Paxton is an established and highly respected family owned and operated McLaren Vale wine company, whose vineyards are NASAA certified “organic/biodynamic in conversion” from vintage 2010. Longview ‘Red Bucket’ Shiraz Cabernet 2008 has knocked off the big boys and has picked up a Gold medal and Trophy for the Best Adelaide Hills wine at the prestigious 2010 London International Wine Challenge. Margaret River’s Hay Shed Hill continue to shine under the direction of ex-Howard Park winemaker, Michael Kerrigan. A 5 star rated winery according to James Halliday, Hay Shed Hill have just scooped up a Gold Medal at the International Wine Challenge for their 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon. Waipara Hills have picked up a Gold Medal at the International Wine Challenge 2010 in London for their 2008 ‘Southern Cross Selection’ Central Otago Pinot Noir. The judges commented that the wine showed “Soft red fruit and spice on the nose. An explosion of raspberry, cherry and cinnamon. Rich, full and creamy in the mouth.” This latest win is in addition to its Trophy and Gold Medal collected at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2009. Read more about Waipara Hills…

‘Australia’s 10 bravest winemakers’, an article by Andrew Jefford in Decanter magazine’s May 2010 edition, lists not one, but two winemakers represented by JHL Wine: Peter Althaus of Domaine A in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, and Stephen George of Ashton Hills Vineyard in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills. To be recognised in this way by one of the World’s most respected wine magazines is testament to both Peter and Stephen’s unwavering commitment to producing wine at the highest level and to challenging the status quo when it comes to the future of Australian wine.

Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine, June/July 2010 – Neudorf ‘Moutere’ Chardonnay 2008 is rated ‘Top new white release’ with 97/100 points AND Neudorf ‘Moutere’ Pinot Noir 2008 is rated as equal ‘Top red release’ with 95/100 points.
Following on from recent ratings such as ‘The best producer in New Zealand’ according to Tom Stevenson’s UK based Wine Report 2009, ‘One of 2010’s best producers in New Zealand for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc’ by the UK’s Oz Clarke, and Jancis Robinson MW naming Neudorf as “one of the most Burgundian Pinots outside Burgundy” in the UK’s Financial Times 2009, surely Neudorf should be on the top of your ‘to drink’ list? Waipara Hills 2009 ‘Soul of the South’ Sauvignon Blanc has just picked up another Gold Medal, this time at the Liquourland Top 100 Awards 2010 in New Zealand. The wine was also reviewed in the UK’s highly respected Decanter magazine in the March 2010 edition: “A very elegant style, with notes of blackcurrant leaf and stone fruits. The full flavoured and quite complex palate is supported by a zesty acidity and lots of lime juice on the finish.”
The wine now boasts:
